In most cases you should not be too concerned about your dog vomiting. If you know that the dog got into something or you changed its diet, you can probably wait 24 hours to see if the vomiting clears up, but only if your dog does not appear lethargic.
You must withhold food for 24 hours and then gradually start a bland diet. If at any time the dog becomes worse please see your veterinarian.
If your dog has been vomiting continually for more than 1 hour or if he has been vomiting on and off for 24 hours, it is severe and you should bring him in to see the doctor.
Vomiting can have lots of causes. Sometimes the cause can be straightforward. An easy indication maybe what was the pet's last meal.
Sometimes the consistency of the vomit may indicate what's wrong.
? Undigested food-1.food poisoning 2. Anxiety, 3.simply overeating
? Strong odor-intestinal obstruction.
If no vomiting occurs in 24 hours, then you can try and give some ice cubes followed by water. If no vomiting occurs, then give a small amount of a bland diet. If the dog continues to vomit, call your veterinarian.
What to do for dog vomiting
1. withholding food for 24 hours.
2. Feed a bland diet, consisting of 2/3 rice, sweet potato or oatmeal and 1/3 of the meal should be well cooked non-fatty meats like chicken.
3. Feed only 1/2 of the normal amount of food at a time. Or you can feed several small meals until the vomiting has subsided.

Mind Over Matter Understanding where horses come from has been a long road for most equestrians. Using that new understanding can dramatically change how one handles, cares for, and trains or rides their horse. How I Get More Training Done On My Horses In 1/2 The Time Here's a simple way.. An Introduction to Dog Beds Some people are so attached to their pets that they wouldn't dream of asking them to simply curl up on the floor to go to sleep. Pet owners, especially dog owners, have created an industry for dog beds that rivals the bedding industry for humans in both creativity and profit margins. Do They Really Need a Dog Bed? When Lucky was starting to show signs of aging, we were concerned about her comfort. She would have a hard time getting up in the morning. Westie Pups - How to Prepare for Your Westie Puppy Just like when you bring home a new baby, you will need to prepare before you bring home your westie puppy. The needs of westie pups are not tremendous, but there are a few things that you must have in place to give your westie a safe, happy transition into your life. Train Your Dog With Respect Proper training of your dog should begin when he is a puppy. The first four months of a dog's life are very important in the training of your dog. Finding the Perfect Cat or Kitten for You and Your Family Some people say they are exclusively "cat people," meaning they only want to have a cat as a pet. That doesn't mean that just any cat will be the right companion. Acclimating New Birds Now that my services have expanded into the "matchmaking" business, it dawned on me that we need to talk about the transition of a bird moving to a new home, whether a hand fed baby just adopted to a new home or an older bird going to a second home. This is a stressful time for any bird, but you can help lessen the strife and make the move easier for both your new bird and the rest of the family. Need a Low-Maintenance Pet? Try a Tarantula! If you're like me, then you don't really have the luxury of keeping a high-maintenance pet such as a dog. Even a less demanding pet such as a cat might be beyond your time constraints. How To Keep Your Cat Healthy - Cat Feeding Explained Cats have a reputation for being finicky eaters, but that is usually a distortion of the truth. Cats have a very keen sense of taste and smell, and they know what they like. Your First Cichlid Aquarium So you're thinking about trying cichlids. A good choice. Lyme Disease Treatment in Pets Lyme disease can be treated with antibiotics, because the disease is caused by a bacterium that is introduced to your pet through a bite from a tick carrying the disease. Antibiotics will be taken for a long period of time and some times and may not be very effective if your pet has had the disease for a long period of time. The Grave of Gelert Just south of Snowdon, in the grey-stoned village of Beddgelert set among the wild mountains of Wales, is the Grave of Gelert. Here, in a beautiful meadow below Cerrig Llan, is a large stone slab lying on its side with two upright slabs which owes its fame to the legend of Prince Llewelyn ap Iorwerth and his faithful hound. Dogs & Kids: Happy Together Dogs and kids, it's a combination that at it's best can be the stuff of childhood dreams. At it's worst, it can be a source of heartache and pain and even injury. The Geriatric (Older) Dog Dogs mature and age at much different rates, usually according to size and breed. It is commonly held that dogs live 7 years for every year that we man does. Dogs And Their Allergies A former coworker has a dog that had begun itching and scratching incessantly. So much so, he had worn away a lot of his fur. Vet Check - Well-Bird Check Up I know there are differing opinions on the subject of well-bird check ups. Some people believe in having your apparently healthy parrot checked out once a year by a qualified avian vet, while others claim that taking a healthy bird into a vet office exposes them to "germs" they might not otherwise be exposed to. Sugar Gliders: Tiny Acrobats In the last decade or so, the popularity of sugar gliders as pets has grown considerably. The small size of these furry acrobats, their personalities, their plush fur, their large eyes, their agility and their ability to bond closely with humans have attracted legions of new sugar glider devotees. Dog Training: Teaching Your Dog Self-Control Is your dog one of those that pulls at his leash constantly whenever there is a distraction? A child walks by, or he sees another dog? If a cat or small animal scoots by, or if a car whooshes in front of him, does he tug to get closer? Is he hard to manage while visiting the vet, or when you have visitors? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then your dog training needs to include self-control measures. A child is taught similar things when they are growing up (don't put your hand on the stove, or you can't have a cookie unless you ask, first), a dog requires the same kind of love and attention, too. Commercial Pet Food for Your Dog? What you feed your dog is really so important for your dog's ultimate health, susceptibility to illness, and longevity. You know, if you really want your dog to be as healthy as s/he can be, you should stop feeding ANY of the widely available commercial dog foods. |
